Abstract

The Cervantes’s posthumous novel of is clearly built around the pictorial code as a theme and as an issue regarding the resources of the writing. In this article, I have tried in particular to read the sequences of the dreamed island and the gallery of Hipólita Ferraresa as a balanced double movement in which writing, painting and prophecy are cohesive, and permit a glimpse into the workshop of the artist-writer, a constant motif in the poetry of Cervantes. I have attempted to assume a precise iconographic source for II, 15 in particular.
