This paper presents some pages from the dialogue Della nuova poesia (1589) written by Giuseppe Bastiani Malatesta, an Italian polymath active during the second half of the sixteenth century. The excerpt represents one of the last stands in defence of the Orlando Furioso, in relation to the Italian Renaissance discussion concerning the theory of the novel.Downloads
