Call for papers Issue 14 (2026)
Historias Fingidas invites researchers to submit original and unpublished articles for issue 14 (2026).
Editorial Guidelines:

Knights and shepherds: «ahora sea caballero andante o pastor por andar»
In the library of Don Quixote there are not only romances of chivalry, but also pastoral novels; La Diana by Montemayor and the works of Alonso Pérez and Gil Polo are examined with praise. Mention is also made of Los diez libros de Fortuna de amor by Lofraso, which are condemned to the flames. El Pastor de Iberia, Ninfas de Henares, and Desengaño de celos likewise appear. Of El Pastor de Fílida by Gálvez de Montalvo it is stated that its author is not so much a shepherd as a discerning courtier. Cervantes even ventures to cite his own Galatea and promises a second part superior to the first. In Cervantes’s great novel, a kaleidoscopic assemblage of the literary genres of his time, chivalric matter frequently intersects with the pastoral. Nevertheless, this kinship and harmony between the two genres was already present in earlier chivalric and pastoral works.
Issue 16 of the journal aims to bring together contributions from specialists in both novelistic genres in order to compare their perspectives and to outline an overview of the intertextual relationships and the reworking of shared narrative motifs.
The journal also welcomes contributions for its other sections (Miscellanea, Reports and Reviews, Ongoing DH Projects, and Doctoral Theses), whose editorial guidelines can be found at:
